SALISBURY: Epiphany camel

THERE have been many sightings of llamas and alpacas taking part in church nativity plays this Christmas, but there have not been many camels, and certainly not one as glamorous as Thérèse, seen here in Wilton Parish Church in Salisbury diocese.

The Priest-in-Charge, the Revd Mark Wood, tells me that she belongs to Lady Chichester, and was impeccably behaved when she took part in Journey of the Magi, performed in his church with an all-female cast. Apparently she is a veteran of appearances in Salisbury Cathedral and in St John’s, Smith Square, in London.
