From Professor David McClean
Sir, — Mr Eddy attacks the proposed rules governing the provision of clergy housing (Letters, 1 February) with the rallying cry that “the rights of parishioners must be maintained.”
The legislation does exactly that. No rights are taken away from the parishioners. No rights are taken away from parochial church councils. No rights are taken away from patrons.
I trust that the Synod will debate what is actually in the legislation.
