Correction: in “Clergy numbers up, but laity down”

by
29 October 2008

In “Clergy numbers up, but laity down” (News, 24 October), the lowest number of people, including children, in church on a Sunday in October should have been reported as 722,000, not 983,000, which was the average for the month. We said that in 2000 the lowest figure attending church was 1.46 million. That figure was, in fact, the highest number. The lowest figure was 781,000.
