Former monk to be Bishop of Stockport
THE NEW Bishop of Stockport will be the Revd Robert Atwell, who is currently Vicar of St Mary’s, Primrose Hill, in north London. Mr Atwell (right), who is 53 and single, spent ten years as a Benedictine monk at Burford Priory, and before that was Chaplain of Trinity College, Cambridge, for six years. Google sued over abortion
THE internet search engine, Google, is being sued by the Christian Institute for infringing the Equality Act 2006 by discriminating against Christian groups. It refused to allow an “AdWords” advertisement that would provide a link to the Institute’s views on the abortion laws in the UK whenever a user typed in “abortion”. Google said it refused advertisements that linked religion and abortion.
