Norman Yeo, believed to be Britain’s oldest bell-ringer, celebrated his 100th birthday by ringing for a service at All Saints’, Long Ashton, near Bristol, on Sunday. Mr Yeo has been ringing for 85 years. Each time he has to climb 52 steps to the bell chamber. “It’s a bit of a struggle,” he said, but he has no plans to retire.
