Welsh bishop to retire

The Bishop of Swansea & Brecon, the Rt Revd Anthony Pierce, will retire on 16 January next year, his 67th birthday, the diocese announced this week. Bishop Pierce has served all his 42-year ministry in the diocese, after studying history at the University of Wales, Swansea, and theology at Ripon Hall and at Linacre College, Oxford. He was Archdeacon of Gower from 1995, before his election as bishop in 1999.
