Coretta's message

Sir, - As I had the privilege of meeting Coretta Scott King, may I add to your brief mention of her death ( News, 3 February).

I was impressed by her tranquillity, but particularly I remember her saying that, despite the pain caused to her by Martin Luther King's assassination, she was convinced that non-violence whatever the cost was right and the only way to effect lasting change.

It is a message we need to hear in an increasingly violent world.
