THE DIOCESE of Southwell & Nottingham issued a statement underlining its
commitment to cater safely for children and young people last Friday, after a
former choirmaster, Keith Bramhill, was sentenced in Nottingham Crown Court to
eight years in prison for 19 counts of indecent assault against children.
Mr Bramhill admitted the offences, which took place at All Hallows',
Ordsall, over a 33-year period. He was branded a "wicked paedophile" by the
judge.
The court heard that Mr Bramhill's abuse came to light only last year, when
one of his victims went to the police. The choirmaster had a history of
befriending lonely choristers, the court was told.
