Clerical golf

IT IS not often that a Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church wins a prize in his own Invitational Golf Tournament, but the Most Revd Bruce Cameron (left), Primus and Bishop of Aberdeen & Orkney, took part for the first time and did so this year.

Fourteen clergy and Synod staff, including two bishops, played in the traditional tournament on the day before the recent Scottish General Synod.

The tournament was held at the Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club, and sponsored by the Ecclesiastical Insurance Group.

This year’s winner of the trophy was Canon Cliff Piper (right) and the runner-up was the Revd Dr John Cuthbert.

The Primus won the Best Bishop (of two) prize (the other Bishop was the Rt Revd Neville Chamberlain of Brechin diocese), and Canon Bob Fyffe won the prize for best newcomer.
