Christmas spectacular

SOME PICTURES hardly need words. This was the eye-catching crib service at St John’s Wood, London, on Christmas Eve. Instead of the nativity story being told by the Vicar, the Revd Dr Anders Bergquist, with carols chosen by the children, the church joined forces with Mahogany Community Ventures, one of the main creators of the Notting Hill Carnival costumes. The results were spectacular. “It was nice to hear real ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’,” says the Assistant Curate, the Revd Andrew Hammond.
