THE DEATH of Canon Dr Arthur Peacocke on 21 October, aged 81, has deprived the Church of a prophet and a pioneer: a prophet constantly calling the Church to meet the challenges from the sciences, and to bear its witness in the scientific world; a pioneer, and indeed one of the international patriarchal figures, in facilitating the conversation between science and religion.
