Interview: Amma Sue OCMM, religious

I use the title “Amma” because of its echoes of the Desert Mothers. Also, on a pragmatic level, it distinguishes me from all the other Sues in the diocese. It’s all experimental at the moment. Quite a few people in the single consecrated life use the title “Sister” or “Brother”.

We’re calling the new Order the Companions of Martha and Mary, because it is an attempt to live a life of gospel faithfulness and witness to God’s activity in the world ...
