SHEFFIELD: Spirited balloons

MANY parishes in the diocese heeded the call by the new Bishop of Sheffield, the Rt Revd Steven Croft, for ten days of prayer from Ascension Day to Pentecost. Among them was St Matthew’s, the city-centre church of Sheffield. There, they observed the days of prayer, but they also had a tradition of releasing balloons at Pentecost to celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
