DENIS WRIGHT, who died on 14 January, aged 83, was perhaps the last survivor of that illustrious group of professional boy sopranos who enjoyed successful radio and concert- hall careers in the years preceding the Second World War.

His records remained popular for years, and he appeared on radio with many famous figures of the day. The pinnacle of his career was an ap­pearance at the Royal Albert Hall in 1942, ...
