Dr Pridmore’s strictures on ‘drivel’ in church

Sir, — I must protest against the Revd Dr John Pridmore’s reference to “Shine, Jesus, shine” (Diary, 12 August).

I am myself no lover of this so-called worship song, and for many years had a cutting pasted in my hymn book denigrating its theo­logical content. Yet one has to admit that it does have a very attractive tune, and is indeed inspiring to many who have ...
