VERGERS do not usually wear chimneys to verge out a cathedral
choir, but that is what Jerome Reed did at the end of the
Christmas-morning eucharist in Birmingham

vergers, who, though very tired after an exceptionally busy
December, still had such a sense of fun after the dismissal.
