Praying in threes

02 November 2006

TEN THOUSAND cards have been sent out to parishes across the diocese of Blackburn, and demand has been so high that more are to be reprinted. They are a follow-up to the first year of the five-year Mission Action Plan, and are inviting people to form Trios, groups of three, to study the Bible and pray together for the work of the Church of England in their communities.

The Bishop of Blackburn, the Rt Revd Nicholas Reade, says it is a time for encouragement for the Church of England in Lancashire, especially as statistics show that Blackburn is one of the dioceses that is growing. He, his wife Christine, and his chaplain, Canon Philip Gray, have formed the first Trio at Bishop's House. Meanwhile, he is receiving "exciting evidence" of new mission developments in various places, as parishes submit their Mission Action Plans.
