First father, then son

02 November 2006

NOT OFTEN are both father and son hon. canons in the same cathedral, but Christ Church, Oxford, now has two Canons Weston. Canon Keith Weston (right), a former Rector of St Ebbe’s, was appointed Hon. Canon in 1981, but left for Norwich diocese five years later when he became Hon. Canon Emeritus. Since retirement, he has returned to the Oxford diocese.

He was delighted when his son, the Revd Stephen Weston, Team Rector of Chipping Norton, was installed as Hon. Canon on 21 January along with three others.

Father and son could both find themselves acting as chaplains to summer visitors in the cathedral, although Canon Stephen is very busy in his Cotswold parish, and Canon Keith, now 80, is finding a long day on his feet quite tiring.
