Church Times films for Lent
This Lent, the Church Times is to run a weekly film course. In the six weeks until Easter, we will feature a selection of the best religious films.

STOP PRESS Unforseen problems with distributors have meant that the Church House Bookshop is unable to supply these DVDs as hoped. Existing orders will be honoured. But because we chose films that are readily available, readers should be able to buy them without difficulty. Try websites such as www.play.com, www.amazon.co.uk and www.hmv.com There will be a weekly essay in the paper, and notes on how to run a discussion session based on that week’s film. The films can be watched by a group in someone’s home, or individually. In an ideal world, everyone would be able to sit and watch the film right through before any group discussion. But, because religious films tend to be long (many last more than two hours) we will suggest short passages that can be shown, in order to leave time for discussion. We’ll also suggest some questions. We hope that people might be able to watch the complete film at home, either before or afterwards. So, we’ll provide: • introductory essay to each film • suggested clips to help you put together an evening’s showing and group discussion that last less than two hours • questions for discussion |
