The GAFCON press conference

This cartoon was inspired by Paul Handley's account of the GAFCON press conference in the Guardian: The Anglican schism widens quietly. The strapline reads 'What if you gave a schism and nobody came? At a press conference to announce the next move of global Anglican conservative leaders, I was the only journalist'. The Church Times report (linked to on Friday) is here: GAFCON Primates hear of ‘two religions’ in the United States. Jim Naughton comments here: GAFCON thunders. The media yawn. David Virtue has also posted an 'Exclusive' on the matter, to which I do not feel inclined to link.

Further opportunities to attend GAFCON events are approaching for those who missed out on this occasion. Take for example the launch of the Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans in London. Tickets can now be booked via this webpage: Be Faithful! July 6, Central Hall Westminster. Book online

Meanwhile GAFCON Bishop Michael Nazir-Ali has been attacked in the introduction to the Southward Cathedral Annual Report by the Dean, Colin Slee. The Telegraph has more: Church of England bishop accused of trying to set up rival church. Colin Slee's sermon from the day the report in question was circulated is here.

[While I'm linking to the Telegraph, an entirely unrelated bonus link: Husband builds 12-seater chapel in back garden for wife. A husband spent £25,000 constructing a working chapel in his back garden because his wife found their local church too crowded.]

I thought the story about the little chapel was wonderful. Now, what's that other thing? Gafnuts, Conmen... I found that part to be a total yawn.

Great cartoon.

Thanks Linda - I make it my aim to provide something for everyone.

Only one little correction-the banner should read "C of E"
