Middle East province ordains woman

THE first woman to be ordained priest in the province of Jerusalem and the Middle East has said that her ordination is a “huge privilege”.

The Revd Catherine Dawkins was based in Yemen, where she served as assistant chaplain of Christ Church, Aden. Her husband, Nigel, was the Anglican chaplain in the Yemen. The couple have now been forced to move to Dubai, owing to political un­rest, but they are continuing their ministry remotely.
