Mixed response to new White Paper

THE radical redrawing of the school system in England signalled by the Education White Paper published on Wednesday has received a mixed response from Church of England education chiefs.

The C of E has about 4800 schools, most of which would welcome the new freedoms. Others, though, would find it daunting, said the chairman of the Board of Education, Dr John Saxbee, Bishop of Lincoln.
