Archbishop admits to past, then resigns

THE Roman Catholic Archbishop of Poland — a former collaborator with the Communist secret police — resigned this week, minutes before he was due to celebrate his inaugural mass in Warsaw Cathedral.
The Archbishop, the Most Revd Stanislaw Wielgus, aged 67, resigned on Sunday, half an hour before the 11 a.m. mass at which he was due to be sworn in as Metropolitan.
