I DO not think that they are exceptional in their generosity among church communities, but the people of Bath Abbey have added up what they give of their time, and it comes to some impressive figures. Among them, they contribute more than 28,000 voluntary hours a year. A quick prod at my calculator suggests that that is the equivalent of 3500 eight-hour days. If they were all paid the Living Wage, it would be the equivalent of some £209,583-worth of work a year - more than £4000 a ...
