Wed on the web

The online dating agency Christian Connection ( www.christianconnection.com) is celebrating its fifth birthday. "We are also celebrating that we have had more than 300 weddings," said the founder and director, Jackie Elton.

Since it was set up in 2000, more than 30,000 people have joined the site; between 14 and 20 new members log on daily. Sites are also running in Germany, Ireland, and Australia.

Recent developments include "instant chat", where members can talk to each other through the site in real time. "As the proportion of single Christians in the UK rises towards 40 per cent, there needs to be greater recognition of the presence, needs, and contribution of single Christians within the wider Church, particularly in urban areas," said Ms Elton.
