Television: The Gospel truth

SPEAKING as a brother priest, I find it hard not to dislike the Revd Pete Owen-Jones. For a start, what happened to the final “r” of his apostolic Christian name? Why does he swagger around sacred sites in boots, jeans, and a bush hat, like Indiana Jones? Why does he think it a subtle TV gesture to end each paragraph with an “I-can-see-through-this-stuff-even-though-it’s-fooled-generations-of-believers” smirk to the camera?
