THE President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, Cardinal Walter Kasper, has written A Handbook of Spiritual Ecumenism (New City Press, £5.95 (£5.35); 978-1-56548-263-0). It draws on Vatican II documents, and later directives on ecumenism (much of this summarised in convenient form), with the aim of encouraging public and private prayer for unity, a change of heart and holiness of life, and growth in communion.
