The Psalms and violence
Posted: 09 May 2007 @ 00:00
The Psalms and violence are explored by David Firth in Surrendering Retribution in the Psalms: Responses to violence in the individual complaints. He groups the material into three sections: psalms of false accusation, psalms for protection, and psalms of sickness. All forms of human violence are rejected, he argues; only violence attributable to Yahweh is acceptable (Paternoster, £19.99 (£18); 978-1-84227-337-1).
