Cookery: Christmas specials

A FEW years ago, I was given a home-made Christmas pudding. A friend told me to microwave it. I did, and, to my horror, sparks shot out, and the pud frizzled to the size of a tangerine. I didn’t know that 20p coins, wrapped in greaseproof, were inside it. I now make it in advance, and steam it.
