C of E £1.2m bail-out for Lambeth

THE Church of England is to give the Lambeth Con­ference organisers up to £1.2 million in an interest-free loan to help them meet their commitments, writes Bill Bowder. “It was always part of our understanding that we would approach the Church of England for support,” the General Secretary of the Anglican Communion, Canon Kenneth Kearon, said on Tuesday.

The Conference had budgeted £4.4 million for the costs of bishops and administration costs, and £1.2 million for their spouses ...
