ON 21 MARCH it was 452 years since he died in flames, tied to a stake in Oxford, but the Prayer Book Society never forgets to commemorate Archbishop Thomas Cranmer at the place where he met his death.

This year, the anniversary fell on Good Friday; so the celebration was held on the previous Saturday, beginning with a Prayer Book matins in Exeter College Chapel. Society members and other supporters then processed to the site of the martyrdom, marked by a ...
