New officers for Board of Education
by Margaret Holness Education Correspondent
DR ROB Gwynne, a former head teacher and education consultant, has been appointed head of school development at the Board of Education. Dr Gwynne was principal of Wycliffe Community College, Leicester, and Longsands College, St Neots, before becoming an educational consultant for the business-services provider Mouchel. He managed the consultancy’s work with faith academies and school improvement initiatives. Also this week, the Revd Dr Stephen Heap was announced as national adviser for higher education, and the Revd Dr John Breadon is to be national adviser for further education. Dr Heap, a Baptist minister, was ecumenical co-ordinating chaplain at the University of Bedfordshire’s Luton campus, and was previously city-centre chaplain at Milton Keynes before becoming director of Bedford Ecumenical Lay Institute for Education and Faith. Dr Breadon, currently the Church’s regional FE officer for the West Midlands, and an executive member of the West Midlands Faiths Forum, was formerly chaplain of St George’s Post 16 Centre, Birmingham. It is understood that the name of a new national adviser for religious education is to be announced shortly. |
