Will more poetic prayer lead Churches together?

The worship material for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity seems imaginative, but parishes will need convincing, says Tim Stratford

THE RENEWAL of daily prayer has been a strong example of growth in the Church of England in recent years. But one of the consequences of a strong rhythm of prayer is a reluc­tance to break away from it. People who have adopted patterns of daily prayer do not find it easy to use resources that are offered as an alternative. Material produced for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (WPCU) has increasingly tended to fall into this trap.
