General Synod: Sunday

06/07/2008 15:13:00

The Church Times daily reports from Synod are here. So far we have:

Official updates from General Synod are available via the Church of England media centre. Daily updates from Friday, Saturday and part of Sunday are now available: Friday / Saturday / Sunday

The Archbishop of York gave a speech at Synod yesterday:

The Archbishop of Canterbury preached in York Minster this morning

  • Ruth Gledhill was enthusiastic in her blog post Rowan on the 'waterless pit of division'. "Maybe this is overstating it, but it feels from my seat in the north transept, with my fellow 'sinners' of the press close by, as though he's just saved the Church of England."
  • The BBC had an article this morning 'Church tourism plan put to Synod' which has now been entirely rewritten and retitled: Jesus 'would feel Anglican pain'

On the women bishops vote and related subjects:

Synod bloggers. These have all updated numerous times within the last couple of days

  • One I hadn't discovered before - from the Anglo-Catholic side of things: Anglican Wanderings (they are on Facebook too)
  • Alastair Cutting (apologies to Alastair for spelling his name incorrectly on previous occasions) is joined by Justin Brett on the General Synod blog
  • Peter Owen has stepped into Simon's shoes admirably by providing the most complete roundup of news links on the Thinking Anglicans blog
  • From the conservative evangelical side of things: The Church Society has daily reports here
