Subtle it wasn’t, but Ed Beavan enjoyed his night at Ben Hur

AFTER much hype, the long-awaited Ben Hur Live finally opened at the O2 Arena in London on Thursday of last week.

The stadium-sized adaptation of Lew Wallace’s novel Ben-Hur: A tale of the Christ, which inspired two Hollywood films, including the Oscar-winning 1959 version with Charlton Heston, was produced by Franz Abraham. His CV also lists such open-air spectacles as Carmina Burana Monumental Opera, and Aida Monumental Opera on Fire. ...
