The Bishop of Rochester writes:

IAN SMITH, who died on 29 July, was an outgoing and friendly person who has been described by a friend as having “a large hinterland of interests”. He was mad on trains, especially steam, and was the author of a number of books on trains in his adopted and beloved county of Yorkshire.
