Accentuate the positive, says Dr Neill

by Gregg Ryan, Ireland Correspondent

THE Archbishop of Dublin, Dr John Neill, has said that the crisis in the Anglican Communion can be viewed positively as an opportunity for vocation. He was preaching on Tuesday at the annual Synod Eucharist, held in St Nicholas’s Collegiate Church in Galway.

“Other Christian world Communions have commented that the issues we are facing as Anglicans are there for all Christians, even if below the surface, and it may well be our vocation to pioneer a way forward,” Dr Neill said. “It is only together that the Churches today can . . . seize the opportunities for service and mission that are there.”

On Wednesday, the General Synod was addressed by the President of the Irish Republic, Mary McAleese — the first time a head of state has done so.
