Balloons ascending
by Margaret Duggan
![]() |
| THE BALLOONS went straight up this year, as though ascending to heaven — as they should, on Ascension Day. Releasing 40 balloons is the traditional way of marking the end of the 40 days of Easter at St Mary’s, Burnham-on-Crouch, in Chelmsford diocese, says Canon Hugh Beavan. The balloons all have tags on them, asking people to let the church know how far they have travelled. Some have landed in northern France, and even in Holland. |
