Venables is repudiated
by Ed Beavan.
THE Primate of Brazil, the Most Revd Maurício Andrade, has condemned the recent unauthorised visit to Recife by the Primate of the Southern Cone, the Most Revd Greg Venables, as “an attack on the pillars of the Anglican tradition” A statement to Lambeth Palace from the Brazilian House of Bishops, signed by the Primate, expressed their “strong repudiation” of Bishop Venables’s trip as contravening the Windsor report and resolution of the Dar-es-Salaam Primates’ Meeting. “The Primate of the Southern Cone has repeatedly violated those boundaries through official acts,” the Archbishop writes. |
