Four errors of fact about the 1993 Act of Synod

From Mr Stephen Parkinson
Sir, — You really should not allow yourself to collude with the Revd Una Kroll’s rewriting of history quite so blatantly. In a single paragraph of her piece (Comment) last week (“In 1993, the General Synod . . .”), she set forth at least four errors of fact which your editorial pen might usefully have corrected before you went to press.

The Episcopal Ministry Act of Synod 1993 was not passed by Parliament, still less by the Ecclesiastical Committee; it does not debar women from applying for certain posts; it does not prevent women from being bishops; and it has absolutely nothing to do with human sexuality.
