Sending books to bishops

Packing for Lambeth © not advert

I'm aware that it is far too early to be drawing cartoons about packing for Lambeth, but I need to start practising now if I'm to get my BPM (Bishops per minute) rates up to the required level. This probably won't be the last cartoon on the theme I'll do.

I'm sure that a lot of bishops will be sent numerous books over the next few months. One such purchaser of bulk quantities of jiffy bags will be the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement, whose book 'Rebuilding Communion' will be sent to every bishop attending the Lambeth Conference. The conference of the book was held over the weekend at the St Deniol's library in Wales (It is a residential library, meaning that you can stay over if you get carried away whilst browsing). Summaries of some of the talks are included on the Integrity USA blog. Speakers included Simon Sarmiento of the Thinking Anglicans blog, whose review of Anglican events from 1998 to 2008 is summarised here.

Other people are producing books in the run up to Lambeth too. Anglican Mainstream launched 'God, Gays and the Church' at the General Synod in London last month. Then there is a collection of Lambeth essays entitled 'A Fallible Church', not to mention Gene Robinson's book 'In the Eye of the Storm', published in the UK at the end of April. I haven't read any of these, so don't take the fact I'm mentioning them as recommendations.

Of course the one book that all bishops will need to have got hold of is the official commentary on John's gospel. Expect to see the teacher's edition (with the answers in the back) fetching significant sums on Ebay.

Dave, congrats on the new gig. One little hiccup: when mangled through a feed reader, there's lots of unattractive coding left in---
"I'm sure that a lot of bishops will be sent numerous books over the next few months. One such ".

Any chance of stripping it out (with all that spare time you've got!)

And of course, when I quote the coding, the CT website automatically interprets ""& n b s p ;"" as a empty space, which makes my comment look stranger than it necessarily is.

Practising, please.
