Foreign news in brief
More Canadians break away THE BISHOPS’ spiritual preparation for the Lambeth Conference began in earnest last week, with the start of six months of Bible study. All the bishops and their spouses attending the conference have been asked to go through St John’s Gospel, and are being encouraged to use a ten-year-old daily reading plan. A special edition of the study guide, by the Revd Dr Richard Burridge, Dean of King’s College, London, and produced by the Bible Reading Fellowship, was launched at the General Synod last week. Copies have been sent to all those who are planning to attend the conference. Some bishops, including the Bishops of Bradford and Lincoln, have bought copies for all their diocesan clergy. John: The People’s Bible Commentary is published by BRF at £8.99 (CT Bookshop £8.10); 978-1-84101-570-5. www.brf.org.uk. |
