Williams’s Windsor-report group forms
by Helen Saxbee
THE Archbishop of Canterbury has announced the formation of the Windsor Continuation Group, which was proposed in his Advent letter at the end of last year (News, 21/28 December). The group will address outstanding issues arising from the Windsor report, and the various formal responses received from provinces and instruments of the Anglican Communion. The group will be chaired by the Rt Revd Clive Handford, former Primate in Jerusalem & the Middle East. The other members will be: the Most Revd Dr John Chew, Primate of South East Asia; the Rt Revd Gary Lillibridge, Bishop of West Texas; the Rt Revd Victoria Matthews, former Bishop of Edmonton, Canada; the Very Revd Dr John Moses, former Dean of St Paul’s; the Most Revd Donald Mtetemela, Primate of Tanzania. Dame Mary Tanner will be a consultant to the group, assisted by Canon Dr Andrew Norman from the Archbishop of Canterbury’s staff, and Canon Gregory Cameron of the Anglican Communion Office. Dr Williams said: “I am deeply grateful to those who have accepted the invitation to carry forward the important work in our Communion’s life. . . “I trust they can count on our prayers throughout the Communion as they bring their combined wisdom and attentiveness to the strengthening of our common life through the Windsor Process.” |
