Honours go to Truro

From Mr Eric Dare
Sir, — I was interested to read Roderic Dunnett’s account of the two female appointments in Guildford and Chichester (Features, 15 February) — especially as Truro will soon be losing its own Director of Music to York Minster.

There was one error, however: Guildford’s is not the first new Church of England cathedral to be built in the south of the country since the Reformation. Truro’s foundation stone was laid in 1880, and the cathedral was consecrated in 1887 and completed in 1910.
