DURHAM: Prayers with sails

NEARLY a million visitors crowded into Hartlepool, in Durham diocese, to see the gathering of Tall Ships this year. There were 57 vessels, with some 6000 young people on them from more than 30 different countries.
Despite poor weather, there was entertainment of all sorts going on in the town: live music, street theatre, a folk festival, a variety of stands, and plenty to eat and drink. Before the ships left, there was also a well-attended open-air service on the quayside, ...
