ONE man’s polymath is another man’s dilettante. Most people would regard a man who has worked as an actor, director, scriptwriter, and presenter of a wide range of documentaries, who is also capable of discourse on subjects ranging from medicine to philosophy and linguistics, as well as maintaining a serviceable interest in neurology, as warranting being described as the former.
