THE Revd Gerald Murray Percival Hamilton, always known as Peter, who has died, aged 95, had a dis­tinguished career, first in religious broadcasting, and later in higher education.

Born in Hereford in 1914, he was ordained, after reading theology at Cambridge, by Bishop Cyril Garbett of Winchester, who claimed him immediately as his domestic chap­lain. While there, Peter met and married Mary, through most of his life ...
