Slaughter of innocents
THERE are some places — fortunately, not many — that are marked in memory only for a single tragic event: Aberfan, Hungerford, Lockerbie, and now Whitehaven. Among them is also the small Scottish city of Dunblane, where, 14 years ago, a gunman shot dead 16 children, and one of their teachers, in the local primary school.
