BULLYING just isn’t any fun any more. Once, the heart thrilled to the apple-pie bed and unmentionable atrocities in the rugby scrum. A boy was not a man until he had been lashed by sodden towels and had marmalade put in his slippers.

Now there are 24-hour helplines, and even legislation. And — the ultimate irony — a “robust” chap such as our Prime Minister is not allowed to have a pop at one of his underlings without himself being bullied by the anti-bullying lobby that he helped to ...
