TWELVE bishops belonging to the Society of St Hilda & St Wilfrid, formed for those who oppose women bishops but wish to maintain their Catholic identity within the C of E, have issued a pastoral letter emphasising their wish “to remain faithful members of the Church of England”.

The letter, whose signatories include the Bishops of Blackburn, Chichester, and Gibraltar in Europe, proposes that the Society becomes a formal part of the C of E, so that its bishops can be ...
